STHAMEX 3% F-15 Foaming Agent #9352

Reference number: #9352

Sthamex 3% F-15 #9352 Foaming Agent, Biodegradable

Registered by DG PBZN, EN1568:2018, IMO MSC

STHAMEX® 3% F-15 is a successor product to STHAMEX 3% F-15 #9348 with a significantly more favorable hazardous material classification and environmental profile (highest rating of zero harmful points in the Bavarian environmental classification*1) with unchanged high extinguishing efficiency and reliable application.

STHAMEX® 3% F-15 is easily and completely biodegradable and does not contain fluorine compounds*3, preservatives and silicone compounds.

STHAMEX® 3% F-15 is particularly suitable and tested for use in marine environments.

Performance

STHAMEX® 3% F-15 is suitable as a multifunctional foaming agent for generating low, medium and high foam for use on Class A and Class B (non-polar) fires.

STHAMEX® 3% F-15 consists of new surface and interface active agents, foam stabilizers and antifreeze additives, with great attention paid to sustainability in the selection and supply. We do not use fluorine or silicone compounds or substances that are either only partially degradable or not at all, and (as far as possible) we also do not use substances derived from mineral or palm oil. Due to the increased frost protection, STHAMEX® 3% F-15 can be stored and used outdoors at temperatures well below 0°C.

STHAMEX® 3% F-15 is specifically designed for use with mobile foam generation equipment for Class A and Class B (non-polar) puddle fires, as well as for non-foam application as a wetting agent and for use as a CAFS*4 foam. STHAMEX® 3% F-15 shows excellent foaming properties and is excellent for generating low, medium and high expansion foams. The low-expansion foam made from STHAMEX® 3% F-15 provides a particularly fine-bubble, compact and stable foam blanket that adheres well to hard surfaces, cooling them and insulating them very effectively against radiant heat. The foam blanket slowly and evenly releases the foam solution to the substrate and is thus able to very effectively wet and penetrate deeply into hard (e.g. motor vehicles, lithium-ion batteries, recycled materials, etc.) and ember-forming (e.g. wood, paper, tires, ...) materials.

The medium-expansion foam produced from STHAMEX® 3% F-15 solutions has a homogeneous bubble structure, flows well and is stable. With suitable high-expansion foam generators, STHAMEX® 3% F-15 produces a very uniform high-expansion foam with an expansion ratio of up to 1000:1. With low expansion foam, it allows large rooms to be completely flooded in a short time and to preemptively displace flammable gas-air mixtures from containers, rooms, pipe ducts and e.g. engine rooms on ships.

Application
STHAMEX® 3% F-15 can be foamed to low, medium and high expansion foam with all commercially available foam systems and equipment and used as fire extinguishing foam against class A + B fires (e.g. fires on plastics and mineral oil products). In addition to tap water, sea water, salt water and treated industrial water (without foam-destructive additives) can also be used to generate foam. The ratio to fire water is 3%.

The extinguishing agent significantly reduces the surface tension of water and is therefore very suitable as a wetting agent for use on Class A fires. When used as a non-foaming wetting agent for extinguishing difficult-to-wet materials, the dosage rate can be reduced to about one tenth of the normal dosage rate for fire water. Standard nozzles can be used for use as a wetting agent.

STHAMEX® 3% F-15 is not suitable for use with polar liquids*5 .

For extinguishing fires in the presence of or on electrical equipment, the relevant standards for protection against electrical damage must be observed (e.g. in Germany DIN/VDE 0132).

Compatibility
For immediate use (e.g. in case of emergency) STHAMEX® 3% F-15 can be mixed in any ratio with similar foaming agents. Storage of the mixture is not recommended. When mixing different fire extinguishing foams, it must be taken into account that the resulting mixture is a new chemical product that has not been tested as a fire extinguishing foam and must also be assessed and labelled in accordance with the regulations for hazardous materials.

Storage and Shelf Life
When storing synthetic fire extinguishing foams and concentrates, only certain materials and also only in certain combinations are suitable for permanent contact with the environment. Our detailed technical information No. 014 (Storage of synthetic fire extinguishing foam concentrates) and 009 (Polymers for material suitability) provide information on this and other important aspects for the optimal storage of our products. Please do not hesitate to contact us. In the event of short-term contact and subsequent thorough cleaning with water, STHAMEX® 3% F-15 or pre-mixed
